What exactly is too much information?
Imagine a picture of someone standing in an open field, all by themselves. It's a simple job to see them, what they are wearing, where they are looking, and get a fairly good idea what they might be doing. Now imagine that same picture, but now there are hundreds, nay, thousands more people and objects crowding the scene. Finding that one person we were looking at before now becomes very difficult, if not impossible.
That is too much information - having so much data thrown at you that you can't quickly grasp what's important to you. This happens every day of our lives. What we really want to know (or need to know) gets tossed in the mix with so much other noise, that we often wind up hearing only half the story - or maybe an entirely distorted version of it. Sometimes it is accidental, as when something flashy pops up and grabs everyone's attention. Other times it is deliberate, with spin doctors and paid publicity experts throwing static right where it will blind...
